LintView (Characterization of Paper Linting
Propensity)
Generates an index of linting propensity on each side of a
sheet of paper. It is quick and simple and therefore allows
for measurements to be effected on paper samples taken
directly on the reel. The measuring rate is such that paper
from every reel can be tested without requiring lengthy and
arduous labor.
In brief, the test consists in acquiring loosely bonded
particles at the surface of a sample of paper in accordance
with a standard method and then generating the linting
propensity index with the help of a camera and
an image analysis software. The method is simple
and requires little training.
Features
- Works for newsprint, directory, coated grades, uncoated
freesheet,
various value-added and supercalendered grades, and some
board grades
- Calculates particles size distribution
- Allows for CD profiles
- Fast and easy to operate
- No inks, oils or solvents
- Results at the touch of a button
- Fits on lab bench (~ 1 meter2)
You can now test your process parameters in real time
when studying lint causes
-
winding
- calendering
- press loading profiles
- dryer temperatures
- roll crowning
- roll changes
- adjustment of the headbox
- jet/wire ratio studies
- adjustments of dewatering
elements
- retention numbers
- wet end chemistry dosages
- clothing changes
- fabrics life

The relevance of the LintView concept has been recognized by
the Pulp and Paper Technical Association of Canada at Exfor
